Impact of Tourism

Now there's a lot of tourists visited Phuket, so they need to cut down trees to build restaurants for tourists and, hotels, also more shopping centre.

Since beaches and nightlife is the most popular place in Phuket, So tourists mostly went to the beaches and when there's a lot of tourists. They started to build Hotels and resorts, which it's causing Pollution because they normally dump sewage and garbages in the sea. Also the amount of boats that used for bring Tourists to another island in phuket ( Koh Hae, Koh Yao Noi, etc).  And now Coral reefs are destroying by diving, Snorkelers, water pollution and anchors

The Beach used to be a place for Sea gypsies and local people to swim and do fishing, but after the increasing amount of Tourists and more hotels and restaurants were built. The sea gypsies were forced to moved to a certain areas and now  most beaches are owned by Hotel developers.

In the main areas for example,  Patong. Most of the shops that were on the streets were mostly set in a foreigners prices. For examples if one shoes cost 100 Baht and if your foreigners. It will cost around 150 - 200 baht.

Patong in the 80's

In the 80’s, bungalows was near the middle of Patong beach but later it turns to Bangla road where there’s a lot tourists.
Before, Bangla road was just a road with little amount of cars and it’s a very small road and a short road (Soi). People normally lived there and it’s not yet the popular place in Phuket, but now it changed to a Soi full with nightclubs and neon lights for tourists.

Patong is one of the popular place in Phuket and it's a place for partying and play. Patong is very small but has a lot of building such as hotels, bars, shopping centre ( Jungceylon) for tourists.

Patong is the place that attracted tourists the most because of the exciting nightlife and people talked about it a lot and also because of the beaches that attract tourists eyes from all over the world.Even after the Tsunami, Patong is still the most popular place in this island. Even though it took a while to set up things and build some new building.
